These surveys are required for any drainage systems on National Highways Network. SDS manage and carry out surveys for developers and National Highways directly.
Using GIS and CCTV drainage inspection cameras to map, inspect and record drainage assets across the National Highways network. Asset Condition drawings pinpoint serious defects, helping you plan maintenance and reduce risk.
GDMS Surveys use CCTV drainage inspection cameras and digital mapping to build a clear picture of drainage systems along the highways. Depending on the level of inspection required, the data collected can include full connectivity, condition, size, material, manufacturer, gps level and location of each drainage asset.
GDMS Surveys ensure you get a reliable, standardised dataset that supports future works and long-term asset management.
GDMS Surveys are essential before major works on roads and highways such as resurfacing, widening, or reconstruction, as well as when flooding or blockages occur. It is also important to update records with a survey if existing information is
missing or out of date.
Accurate asset and condition data make it easier to plan maintenance, meet compliance standards and manage long-term risk.
Our GDMS Surveys can combine CCTV inspections and GIS mapping to capture an accurate picture of drainage systems along highways. Identify the drainage assets to be surveyed, including pipes, chambers, gullies, culverts and
ditches. Existing records are reviewed and any inconsistencies are noted, following CS 551’s validation survey requirements.
We use CCTV inspections to record the condition of internal pipework and chambers, highlighting defects in line with the National Highways standards. GIS mapping logs the position, GPS level, connectivity, size and material of each asset, meeting CD 535’s data standards.
Additional methods (e.g. laser scanning, filter drain condition surveys by GPR, Geometric Laser profiling) are used as required to capture detailed asset information.
SDS carries out test upload checks of data into GDMS to ensure that there are no errors and all data is compliant prior to delivery.
Any abandoned surveys or inaccessible assets are recorded, ensuring transparency and traceability.
